Boulderthon has doubled in size every year since its inception, drawing runners from all 50 states as well as 22 countries, as the signature city marathon showcases Boulder’s beautiful downtown and spectacular views of the Flatirons.
The 2024 Boulderthon race series saw almost 10,000 participants of all ages and experience levels and was estimated to bring in $7.9 million in direct impacts for the Boulder area, up 139% from last year’s race.
Visit Boulder, the Official Destination Marketing organization for the City of Boulder, projects that the 2024 Boulderthon race brought in an estimated $7.9M in direct economic impacts to the area. The Boulderthon has quickly established itself as an important sporting event that represents the Boulder brand as a key destination for endurance athletes and supports over 5,900 jobs with the strongest impacts in lodging, food/beverage, and retail spending.
These calculations are generated through an industry tool developed by Tourism Economics, an Oxford Economics Company, which factors in visitor spending behaviors by event type and includes a competitive set of destinations with similar populations and economic environments. It’s used by more than 350 other cities around the country and has calculated estimates for 500,000+ events across the nation.
No parking garages will be closed during Boulderthon. All parking garages remain fully open for the community & staff.
If you love to shop, there are over 140 retailers downtown, 80% of which are locally owned and operated. Businesses are open during Boulderthon!
